CuePOS vs Generic EPOS for Snooker and Pool Clubs

Most EPOS systems are built for shops, cafés and bars, where everything you sell is a button on the screen. A snooker or pool club also sells time on a table, and that's where a general till starts to creak.

Why Generic Tills Struggle in a Cue Sports Club

Run a club on a general till and you'll know these.

Table Time Isn't a Product

Staff note the start time, work out the cost when the table finishes, then key it in as a custom amount. It's slow when the bar is busy, and mistakes are easy to miss.

Shared Tables, Separate Tabs

Four players on one table want to pay separately, and someone ends up doing the sums on their phone.

Bookings Live Somewhere Else

Bookings go in a diary, a spreadsheet or a separate booking app. None of it talks to the till, so a walk-in can end up on a table someone has booked.

Side-by-Side Comparison

How the two stack up on the jobs that matter in a cue sports club. General tills vary, so check the details with any supplier you're talking to.

When a Generic EPOS Is Enough

If you run a pub with a pool table or two on coin slots, you probably don't need table timing, and a general till will do the job. CuePOS earns its place when table time is a big part of your takings, when people book tables, or when you have members and lockers to look after.

Switching to CuePOS

Moving over is less work than most clubs expect.

FAQs

Questions Clubs Ask Us

Do I need new hardware to switch?

No. CuePOS runs on the Windows PCs, Macs, iPads and Android devices you may already have. If you'd rather have a dedicated till, you can lease a Sunmi D3 Pro from us.

How long does switching take?

Under an hour for most clubs, and we'll walk you through it. We'll help move your members across too.

Can I keep my existing card machine?

Yes. Record payments taken on your existing terminal against the tab. An integrated Stripe reader is quicker at the counter, but it's up to you.
